TAJFUN HOSTS FETEC 2024 PARTICIPANTS ON PLANINA
Earlier this week, the 5th FETEC International Conference took place in Ljubljana, focusing on “Forestry Technologies and Wood Harvesting Systems for Small-Scale Forestry.” The event gathered leading experts in forestry engineering, economics, and technology. This year’s theme emphasized the development of modern forestry technologies and wood harvesting systems specifically designed for small-scale forestry operations, which are now crucial for sustainable forest resource management. Among the distinguished participants were researchers, practitioners, and stakeholders from around the world, including experts from our company, Tajfun Planina d.o.o.
THE ROLE OF SUSTAINABLE FORESTRY
Forestry plays a pivotal role in preserving ecosystems, biodiversity, providing habitats, regulating the water cycle, and acting as a carbon sink, thereby mitigating climate change. To sustainably meet the needs of current and future generations, it is essential to manage forest resources in line with eco-friendly and sustainable principles. Modern technological solutions in forestry are vital in reducing environmental impact while enhancing wood harvesting efficiency, especially in small-scale operations.
ADVANCES IN SMALL-SCALE FORESTRY
Over the past decades, small-scale forestry has seen numerous advancements, with the development of alternative techniques and technologies. Non-industrial wood harvesting significantly impacts the bioeconomy, supports forestry enterprises, rural communities, and provides ecosystem services in various regions worldwide. The machinery used in this type of forestry is cost-effective, with lower operating costs and a substantially smaller environmental footprint compared to larger machines.
TAJFUN PLANINA’S COMMITMENT TO SUSTAINABILITY
At Tajfun Planina, one of the largest and most significant forestry machinery manufacturers in Slovenia and globally, we are acutely aware of our responsibility and crucial role in developing and producing technologically advanced and environmentally friendly forestry equipment. Sustainability is the guiding principle across all areas of our operations, and we were proud to be the main sponsor of this year’s FETEC conference.
A DYNAMIC CONCLUSION AT PLANINA PRI SEVNICI
The Biotechnical Faculty of the University of Ljubljana hosted the event, co-organized by the FETEC platform and IUFRO Division 3.01. Tajfun marked its presence by organizing the conference’s conclusion at our headquarters in Planina near Sevnica. We treated the conference participants to a dynamic day featuring live demonstrations of our forestry machinery, guided tours of our production facilities, and pleasant socializing at the Planina Castle.
The day at Planina began at the demonstration site, where visitors witnessed the live operation of our machinery. The demonstrations included log loading with the LIV 130ZK hydraulic loading crane, the use of an electronic caliper for simple, efficient, and quick log measurement, and working with the VIP PRO 90 logging winch.
Our demonstrators also showcased how quickly the RCA PRO 500 firewood processor can turn logs into firewood, processing up to 14 cubic meters of wood per hour. We also introduced the mobile skyline MOZ 350GR, which enables efficient log extraction in hard-to-reach terrains and steep slopes. Visitors had the chance to try out two simulators for operating truck and recycling cranes.
After the machinery demonstrations, the participants toured the production facilities, gaining insight into the technological sophistication and expertise of our company.
The visit concluded with a delightful gathering over Slovenian cuisine, followed by a visit to Planina Castle, where participants shared their impressions and experiences in a relaxed atmosphere.
FETEC 2024 seamlessly combined professional discussions on the future of forestry with practical insights into the latest technological achievements, offering a comprehensive experience and a glimpse into the future of forestry technology.
