Tajfun’s Logging Winch and The BP3 Return Drum

Nenad Čmarec hails from the small valley of Bistra Črna in the Koroška region, nestled among steep hillsides and surrounded by forests. It’s no wonder that forestry, specifically logging and timber extraction, is the main activity on his farm.

We had the pleasure of visiting Nenad at the idyllic Knez farm and listening to his inspiring story. He is a loving father and partner, as well as a dedicated mountain rescuer who selflessly saves lives. His passion for nature is evident in his profession as a forester, where he diligently and responsibly tends to the forests.

The farm operates on a largely self-sufficient basis. Everything is homegrown. For their own needs, they raise animals—cows, sheep, chickens, and pigs—and grow vegetables in their own garden and fields. They also own a small sawmill, where they process logs solely for their own use.

Good Reputation Travels Far

Nenad has made numerous connections with our company at trade fairs and has been using Tajfun products for quite some time. He admits that his decision to purchase Tajfun forestry machines was influenced by his neighbor’s excellent experience with our brand. He and his partner decided to buy their first forestry machine, the Tajfun EGV 65 AHK logging winch, immediately after taking over the farm. Following a major windstorm that devastated Koroška about three years ago, they also began to consider the BP3 Return Drum, which at the time had no competition in Slovenia. Today, Nenad cannot imagine working in the forest without this additional tool, as the return drum significantly eases the pulling of the wire rope.

Reliable Forestry Equipment for Remote, Steep Mountain Forest Slopes

The annual logging volume at the Knez farm is about 1,000 cubic meters. While all family members help with smaller tasks, Nenad performs most of the forestry work himself. The forest work on his property is very demanding and dangerous due to the extremely challenging terrain, requiring reliable and flawless forestry equipment. The robust construction of Tajfun’s logging winches and their easy maintenance are additional features that have made Nenad fall in love with the Tajfun brand.

Uncompromising Commitment to Sustainable Practices

The fact that the Knez farm is nearly self-sufficient highlights their exceptional commitment to sustainability in all areas. Despite frequent natural disasters like windstorms and snow damage, as well as bark beetle infestations, Nenad strives to interfere with nature as little as possible while ensuring that his forest remains healthy and well-managed.
